Difference

Oh my goodness! This is beautiful! Your sense of space usage is great. The whole thing is fairly symmetrical in feel simply because you have the butterflies making a V-like pattern with that little one there at the top right. First of all, I love butterflies. You've captured them very accurately and well in a whole lot of different poses. The white makes for a good contrast to the background along with the black. I think the texture of the background only helps make the picture have a sense of "imperfection." I don't use that in a bad sense. Basically, I think that a solid color background without the texture would flatten it and make it kind of boring. What you've got here is certainly not boring and the beauty in it has everything to do with that imperfection. The butterflies have the color splashes, you weren't coloring in the lines, etc. I love that! It's amazing because of those things.

This image is one that I can look at many times and feel different things. Butterflies are a symbol of joy to some, of freedom, and spring and all that. The dark drips of black coming from the top make it feel like rain, like it might be raining on the butterflies which is more of a sad sort of thing. In the end, I'm mesmerized, trying to figure out how I feel about the picture, not really sure if it's a happy sort of excitement or some kind of sadness. But all in all, I really realize that you have a beautiful picture and a lovely vision. Thank you for sharing your art.
